Job Announcement: Accountant (1–3 Years Experience)

Location: Beirut, Lebanon
Type: Full-time
Reports to: Executive Director (with close coordination with the Programs Director)
Salary: $1,000 – $1,200 Gross (Depending on experience)
Contract Duration: 12 months renewable based on performance and funding

Just.Childhood is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Beirut. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the non-profit or humanitarian sector, and a strong understanding of financial systems, compliance, and donor regulations.

The Accountant will be responsible for managing daily financial transactions, supporting budget monitoring, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and donor requirements. This role is essential to the financial integrity of our programs supporting vulnerable children in Lebanon.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  1. Daily Financial Transactions
    • Record and post financial transactions (cash, bank, petty cash, and journal entries) into the accounting system in accordance with internal policies and donor requirements.
    • Monitor and reconcile bank and cash accounts regularly.
  2. Accounts Payable and Receivable
    • Prepare and process payments to vendors, service providers, and staff (including payroll, advances, and reimbursements).
    • Follow up on receivables and ensure timely collection of funds.
  3. Petty Cash and Cash Management
    • Manage petty cash, ensuring accurate documentation and reconciliation.
    • Ensure proper cash controls and security.
  4. Financial Reporting and Documentation
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal use and donors.
    • Ensure all supporting documents are properly filed and readily available for audit and verification purposes.
  5. Budget Monitoring
    • Assist in tracking expenditures against project budgets and flag any variances.
    • Support program teams with budget-related queries and reporting needs.
  6. Compliance and Internal Controls
    • Ensure all financial transactions comply with Just.Childhood’s financial policies and donor regulations.
    • Contribute to maintaining strong internal control systems to prevent errors or fraud.
  7. Audit and Donor Review Support
    • Prepare required documentation for external and internal audits.
    • Assist during donor reviews, ensuring compliance with donor financial guidelines.
  8. Coordination and Communication
    • Coordinate with project managers, procurement staff, and admin team to ensure smooth financial operations and budgets’ development.
    • Communicate effectively with banks, service providers, and financial institutions when needed.
  9. System and Process Improvement
    • Support the Finance Manager in identifying process improvements and automation opportunities.
    • Contribute to the development and review of financial templates, tools, and procedures.
  10. Other Duties
  • Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Executive Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS required to perform the duties of the post:

a) EDUCATION:

University degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field

MBA, MS in Accounting, or CPA license strongly preferred

b) WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience as an accountant
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in a non-profit 

c) LANGUAGES (Indicate the languages required and desirable)

  • Fluency in English and Arabic (verbal and written)

d) REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCES

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (double-entry, accruals, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (Preferably Wizard).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations).
  • Familiarity with budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of Lebanese tax laws, NSSF, and financial compliance requirements.

Job Announcement: M&E Officer (Minimum 2 years of M&E experience)

Location: Beirut, Lebanon
Type: Part-time (10hrs/week)
Reports to: Programs Director (with close coordination with the Executive Director)
Salary: $400 Gross
Contract Duration: 5 months renewable based on performance and funding

Role Purpose

Just.Childhood is a refugee-rooted NGO in Lebanon dedicated to early childhood education and psychosocial support for marginalized and traumatized children.

Role Overview The M&E Officer will support Just.Childhood in collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting data from our key programs—Early Childhood Education, Psychosocial Support, and capacity-building initiatives. This part-time position is designed for an independent, detail-oriented individual who can prioritize tasks and support quality assurance across our projects. The role focuses on core monitoring and reporting functions, and on strengthening internal accountability and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitoring & Data Collection
  • Develop and maintain M&E tools (surveys, observation forms, session logs)
  • Coordinate with field staff to ensure timely and consistent data collection
  • Train program staff on data collection procedures and ethics
  • Conduct random data quality checks
  1. Indicator Tracking & Reporting
  • Maintain and update indicator tracking tables per project
  • Track output and outcome indicators as per donor logframes (e.g. War Child)
  • Compile M&E data and draft narrative inputs for donor reports
  • Ensure accurate, evidence-based documentation of progress
  1. Data Analysis & Learning
  • Conduct basic data analysis (including disaggregation by age/gender)
  • Visualize key findings using charts or dashboards
  • Prepare short internal reports and M&E updates for the team
  • Participate in review sessions and feed learning into program adjustments
  1. Accountability & Feedback Mechanisms
  • Support the collection and analysis of feedback via surveys, forms, or suggestion boxes
  • Coordinate follow-up on complaints and feedback with relevant staff
  • Document feedback trends and report on responsiveness
  1. Data Management & Ethics
  • Maintain organized, confidential databases and files
  • Ensure data protection and safeguarding protocols are upheld

 

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Education, Statistics, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of M&E experience, preferably in child protection, education, or psychosocial programs
  • Excellent command of Excel; familiarity with KoboToolbox or similar tools is a plus
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency preferred

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge of logframes, project cycle management, and donor reporting
  • Experience working with refugee or vulnerable populations
  • Ability to train and coach non-technical staff
  • High attention to detail, ethical standards, and problem-solving mindset
